In the wake of a series of clashes that were seen as the most serious violations of the Nagorno-Karabakh ceasefire in two decades, the Regional Studies Center (RSC) formally endorsed a public “call for peace in Karabakh” issued on 9 August.

In an interview with Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty’s (RFE/RL) Armenian Service, Regional Studies Center (RSC) Director Richard Giragosian offered an assessment of the recent clashes along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and the “line of contact” between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan. In the 6 August interview, in English but with an Armenian-language translation, Giragosian also provided an analysis of the Russian diplomatic initiative to convene a president summit between the Russian, Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents.

In a live interview with Turkey’s TRT Türk TV channel on 4 August, Regional Studies Center (RSC) Director Richard Giragosian assessed the recent clashes along the “line of contact” between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan, as well as fighting along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, representing the most serious fighting since the 1994 ceasefire effectively ended outright hostilities. TRT Türk is the International TV channel of the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation.

In comments for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty’s (RFE/RL) Armenian Service on 1 August, RSC Director Richard Giragosian offered his analysis of the coming presidential election in Turkey, with a focus on the implications for Armenia.

RSC Director Richard Giragosian assessed recent developments in Armenian-Turkish normalization in an interview on 30 July 2014 with CNN-Turk. Giragosian focused on the impact of both the 100^th anniversary of the Armenian genocide and the coming Turkish elections on the normalization effort and also assessed the diplomatic efforts to overcome Azerbaijani resistance to Turkish engagement of Armenia.
